Audi have announced they will be selling their factory LMP prototypes in driveable condition for the first time.
The newly created 'Audi Sport racing legends' will offer their cars to exclusive customers with support to run the cars at events.
The first car will be exchanged in the middle of this year, to an unnamed collector.

Potential customers got their first look at the first available cars on Wednesday, at Audi's Neuburg an der Donau centre. No doubt the star attraction was chassis 207 of the LMP1 Audi R18 e-tron quattro, driven by Romain Dumas, Loïc Duval and Marc Gené to victory at the FIA World Endurance Championship's 6h Spa in 2012.
The presentation marks the start of the sales phase for these rarities, with the project group presenting to a select audience three more times this year, at the Jim Clark Revival in Hockenheim, the Le Mans Classic, and the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

“We are rebuilding these chassis together with reconditioned parts from that time into racing cars according to strict standards and with a high level of expertise,” says Rolf Michl, Managing Director of Audi Sport GmbH.

“In some cases, even the developers from that era are involved in the current projects. The Audi R18 e-tron quattro is one of the fastest racing cars we have ever built. Our customers become part of a select circle, benefit from our motorsport expertise and receive comprehensive support.”
Customers will receive a comprehensive support package from Audi: regular technical inspections, the offer of repairs, but also a spare parts service and expert advice from former developers.
