REMINDER: The WEC Qatar 1812KM is on Friday

Tim Fullbrook

The 2025 WEC Qatar 1812KM will start at 14:00 local time (11:00 GMT) on Friday the 28th February, after an adjustment by the championship to push the race start back by two hours.

Due to the beginning of the period of Ramadan, which begins after sunset on race day, the WEC took the decision to host the race before the weekend to avoid minimal overlap.

That means official track time begins midweek on Wednesday with two, 90 minute sessions. Thursday sees the final Free Practice before Qualifying in the evening, starting with the knock-out LMGT3 session at 17:00 local, and an hour later we should know how our first grid looks for 2025.

Here's the full timetable:

Whilst Sunday might be the traditional race day for motorsports around the world, the WEC is no stranger to hosting races on days other than Sunday.

The 6H Spa has been regularly held on a Saturday, with the pandemic-delayed 2020 edition hosted on a Friday, and when part of the WEC calendar the Sebring 1000 Miles was held on the Friday in order to avoid clashing with the IMSA's legendary 12 Hour.
